Island Lake Tri 2009 - Volunteering
Update (12 Sept) from the volunteer coordinator:
Triathlon is at the Island Lake of Novi Subdivision at 10 Mile & Wixom Road in Novi (not to be confused with Island Lake State Park). Once in the subdivision, follow the signs to the boathouse, which is where saturday and sunday events start and end.
There are two orientation times on Saturday - 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Orientation is strongly encouraged and includes t-shirt pick up, waiver drop-off and additional instructions.
Sunday arrival time is between 6 - 6:30 a.m. Vounteers can park in the subdivision. Parking passes are attached, along with a map showing parking area. Volunteers should check in with me again so I know they are there.
There will be beverages and snacks for volunteers Sunday morning and they are welcome to take part in the post-race food.
Please call me on my cell at 614-306-8569 if you have any questions. Katy Michalski

A message from the volunteer coordinator:
Hello Novi Frog Force, Milford Hot Robotics and NHS Robostangs -
We are gearing up for the Sunday, August 16 Island Lake of Novi Trathalon and Open Water Swim. Just like last year, we are working with your teams for volunteers in exchange for a financial gift to your robotic teams.
ALL VOLUNTEERS (Adults and students) NEED TO:
1. Complete the attached form. For students under the age of 18, for their parents/guardians to sign as well.
2. Attend one of two orientation sessions to be held on Saturday, August 15, at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m.
3. Bring the completed waiver form to the Saturday orientation.
4. If volunteers are not able to keep their commitment, they need to find a replacement. For the safety of the triathletes, swimmers and spectators, we need all volunteers who have signed-up to keep their committment.
The orientation will last about 30 minutes and will also give volunteers a chance to walk around and familiarize themselves with the site and course. If you have any questions or concerns about the event, orientation or expectations of volunteers, please contact me. My contact info is at the bottom of this page.
Please return your volunteer names to me (via email) by August 1, I will then make the volunteer assignments. I'll return the volunteer assignments to you to share with your team about 5 days prior to the event. From this list, all volunteers will know their task and the time to arrive on Sunday. Assignments included, but not limited to: body marking, water station, course control/directions, registration assistance, parking assistance and timing chip removal.
Looking forward to great race day with your help.
Kind Regards,
Katy Michalski
